For a fraction of a second, her eyes distracted him. They were so… Shiny… He laughed and bowed his head. “Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here all week,” he jested.

“So Todd,” Jo scoots over on the bench a little in case he wants to sit down, “Do you live in the city? Or are you just visiting?”

He does sit down, but keeps his distance and respects her personal space. “Yeah, I live in Brooklyn. But I like wandering about, so I tend to wind up in a different borough every day.”

M-my name’s Todd! Todd Cielsen! AIM agent! But I’m not here to fight! Nice gun, though. And outfit.

AIM?….whats AIM? *slowly lowers his gun* What can I say…I like vintage stuff…

    image

AIM is this company that teeeends to be a little less than legal. A lot. It’s not something I’m proud of, really… And vintage stuff is the best! It never goes out of style in my book.

Then why did you join? *still holds his gun. He isn’t sure if he can trust him*

Eeh… I was in a dark place at the time. It was, well, kind of like a long term and permanent solution to a temporary problem…

Well…why don’t you just get out? I’m sure Captain America or Ironman would understand…

I have a friend who’s trying to help me with that, but… I don’t want him getting hurt. If AIM went after him because of me, I wouldn’t be able to bear it!

    Anythin’ I can do?

I don’t think there is, but if something comes up, I’ll let you know. Thank you for asking, though.

He looked her dead in the eye. “It’s not okay. It is far from okay. You need a place to stay the night. One that’s free of hobos.” He sat back in his chair and thought. “But where in New York are there no hobos…?”

She swallowed and gasped a bit, but she couldn’t hold back her tears anymore. “I-I … I’m going t-to find something. You don’t have to … worry about it. It’s okay, Todd.”

He reached out and grabbed her hand. “Homelessness is a major problem in this city, to the point where these fine people are being abused and mistreated simply because they don’t have a roof over their heads and a bed under their body.” His eyes began to tear up. “I would never forgive myself if something bad happened to you out there. You’re my friend. You deserve some semblance of a sanctuary to last the New York night.”

Anyone who thinks it’s okay to sexually harass someone because of their gender (since you know, apparently women’s very existence is to lure/please men) or the character’s gender which they play can go jump off a bridge.

I don’t believe that men are naturally perverted and disgusting. I think that’s rude because plenty of men are gentlemen who make the distinct choice to be respectful, kind, and polite.

It’s a choice you make for yourself if you decide to harass someone and justify your harassment (whether on their character or the writer themselves for their gender) as “what did you expect for playing a [insert word for female that has a negative connotation] character?”

You should be ashamed of yourself if you seriously think it’s okay to say anything that justifies rape culture and this goes for both men and women.

And even if you say people shouldn’t rape, if you proceed to victim blame or even hint that a woman or man should do everything to protect themselves (cut their hair sort, wear only sweats and baggy shirts, wear no make up, etc.) rather than point the actual blame to the person who VIOLATED/HARASSED them—then you’re adding to the rape culture as well.

You can’t minimize rape. You can’t call it justified either.

Harassment goes along the same lines—especially since harassment can easily result in violence and therefore—rape. ‘cause honestly, someone who can say a woman who dresses in shorts should be raped has the potential to be a rapist themselves.

“No, no, it’s okay. So, if my eyebrows were uneven, I’d look like this?” He raised his left eyebrow. “Or like this?” He raised his right one instead, then started alternating between raising and lowering them independently.

Jo isn’t sure if she should be impressed, or if she should laugh harder. “That’s quite the talent you have there Mr Cielsen.” Her big eyes are practically sparkling. It had been a long time since anyone had really made Jo laugh.

For a fraction of a second, her eyes distracted him. They were so… Shiny… He laughed and bowed his head. “Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here all week,” he jested.

  8. jesslynshepard:

He raised an eyebrow, and took the check when it came. “What do you mean? Do you not have a home? Because I know where there’re some decent free shelters, and some cheap apartments if you need one…” He placed his AIM ID on the check, and handed it back to the waiter. “I mean, I’d let you stay with me, if you needed to, but I barely fit in my apartment…”

“No. No way. I slept last night in a shelter and there was this creepy guy who tried the whole time to get the nearest and he could and …”, she swallowed, somewhat anger in her voice but in the end it sounded more afraid than anything else. Tears welled up in her eyes again. “I’m not going to sleep in a shelter again. No way.”, Jess shook her head, trying to avoid looking at him now. “I know. It’s okay. Understandable. I’ll find something…”

He looked her dead in the eye. “It’s not okay. It is far from okay. You need a place to stay the night. One that’s free of hobos.” He sat back in his chair and thought. “But where in New York are there no hobos…?”

Felicia paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to phrase it correctly. You don’t just blurt out ‘Hi I’m a thief!’ to the world. “I do work with a government group sometimes. Most of what I do is in the line of… retrieval.”

“Retrieval? Like… ‘Hey, go get this thing, and if the cops ask, it was all the other guy?’ I mean, that’s what my coworkers mean when they use the word…” He paused. “Unless you mean like a delivery service that does roadside pickups or something! That’s totally what I meant!”

She laughed. “That’s too bad, cause you would’ve been right with the prior. Though, there’s not really any ‘other guy’ for me to blame. Just me and the challenge of getting away.”

His eyes widened. “Dude, you have the best job ever! Stealing stuff and robbing… Things! That sounds like so much fun!” He calmed down a bit, and continued, “I’d never have the stomach for it, though. I’d wimp out at the last second.”

Felicia blushed a little. “I won’t say it’s the best ever. Not exactly a constant income. Though it is a lot of fun.”

“I don’t want to seem rude, but… What kind of things do you steal? Art, jewelry? Just plain old money?” Todd was quite interested in this subject. It’s not everyday you meet a professional felon.

She was taken back a moment at his response. Most people who found out she was a thief, they either scorned her or tried talking her out of it- sometimes even both. “Plain old money is boring.. unless it’s in huge dufflebags. I ususally pick out a museum or any place like and see if I can find something I like.”

“Oh, cool. That way there’s no theme to it, like bird-related things, or objects related to the number 2 or something.” He winked at her. “Makes it harder for the cops to track you. Good thinking.”

She smirked  ”I wouldn’t say that. I do tend to go after high security stuff more often than anything else. What fun is there is without the chance of getting caught?”

He opened his mouth to answer that, then realized he had no answer. “Yeah, you’ve got a point there…”

Felicia chuckled before giving him him a curious look. “So, a weapons maker?”

Todd nodded eagerly. “That’s right! But only non-lethal weaponry. Stuff meant to stun, or just knock people out.”
